Wild Rock Cottage

We've stayed in dozens of cabins over the years. So we'd first like to say that finding a pet-friendly one cleaned thoroughly enough that we couldn't detect any pet odors, that's in such an incredible location with all the basics (including a well-equipped kitchen), sparkling clean hot tub —is a rare find! We hit the trails every day with our dogs, and evenings we enjoyed cooking our meals (be sure to bring along some tinfoil, plastic wrap & ziplocks) and then hitting the tub. Just be aware that there's a yard service that comes once per week. While we were sitting in the living room, one of the men came all the way up onto the deck to blow leaves and knocked over our mountain bike without apologizing. We were a bit shocked by the privacy invasion and would have preferred to know about this arrangement before we booked. One of our dogs is very anxious around strangers, and it took us a while to get her calmed down. The host told us they don't have any way of knowing when the yard service will be showing up since they drop by as their schedule permits. The only other thing to consider is the checkout time. In all the cabins we've stayed in, the earliest checkout time we've had is 11am. This one is 10am, which wasn't a problem for us for this trip but did seem on the early side especially for those of us travelling from the Central Time zone or beyond. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and really appreciated the small gated area to let the dogs out. |
